OFFA Research - Bursaries help improve student retention11/03/14
OFFA has recently released some research that has looked at whether bursaries help improve student retention. Clearly there is more research required to look at the overall benefits of bursaries, and in particular the different outcomes for cash bursaries versus more targeted awards.
However, one thing that has become apparent from research JS Group has conducted with students this year is that where a university has introduced a well thought out and targeted bursary scheme there is a very positive response from students. Drawing on research conducted at 5 universities that partner with Aspire to distribute bursaries, students:
- give very high satisfaction ratings for the schemes
- recognise that the schemes help them achieve improved grades
- would recommend their university because of the scheme
